Listen to Nate play that bass. I bought a bass guitar days after seeing this video on MTV 120 Minutes. I saw them live in 1995 and I would give anything for a recording of that show.
I am kind of with you on that because i thought they sort of sounded like Smashing Pumpkins/Nirvana. Their newer stuff sounds more Radiohead-ish.
Nice Vid. I enjoyed it. We market properties and other things on youtube, we hope to create a large network of people interested in making money. Your video gets a five star rating from us. I hope you feel the same about ours.
Great song. brings back some memories. It’s incredible that they were like 19 or 20 in this video. One of the most original bands from the era. Thanks for the post!
im glad i was lucky enough to see SDRE before they broke up again. They played this song so fucking gooooood live. i miss.
Kids (under 20) - listen to this fellow. He knows *** he’s talking about. Your emo is shyte.
‘Creep’ is probably the only Radiohead song he’s ever heard…
the bassist plays for the foo fighters (dave grohl’s band, him of course being the dummer for nirvana) and their style being influenced by grunge. I dont see where you got the radiohead from.
i have no idea why but this song reminds me of Donnie Darko…
“Emo” refers to a somewhat “arty” branch of ******** Punk, which, instead of following the trad. ******** rule “faster!” they instead wanted to express themselves in a more “emotional” [hence the name] way. Usually, Emo has ******** elements, but instead of rants about the gov. they use “expressive vocals”. How, what SDRE did was take Fugazi’s emo, and added the grunge influence and crooned vocals. Actually, SDRE was a quirk in Emo, as they also added “slow” moments to their song strucutres.
i just read an article talking about how sunny day, while pretty much an underground band out of the seattle scene, basicly single handedly created the sound which influence the “emo” wave of this decade.
guys its a mix of emo and indie
see video compare with nirvana-> indie
singer“s voice and slow drums and sad->emo
They’re considered ‘emo’ because they’re heavily inspired by bands like Fugazi and Minor Threat, who kept the punk/hardcore sound but instead of having lyrics centered around society and it’s flaws, they focused more on the individual.
Having said that, ‘emo’ is thrown around too much lately and used to describe bands that are nothing more than carbon copies of some fantastic bands,
someone explain the term emo and how this band are emo? id say more grunge or powerpop.
Brilliant brilliant band, depressing as hell but that doesn’t take it away from them
