I so agree with you…what caught me to like them was when they cmae out w/ their first song…I’m thinking “seven” if I am not mistaken. SDRE…trully one of my favorites.
I actually found out about them in a totally random way. I was bored of all my music at the time, and I decided to search where I had never expected to find anything: the ‘emo’ genre. The name ‘Sunny Day Real Estate’ sounded interesting, and that’s admittedly the only reason I sampled a few tracks, then got hooked on TRT, then eventually the 3 previous albums.
Jeremy said in a recent interview that something new could happen with The Fire Theft, but he’s concentrating on his new solo album which is due out this January.

Hmm, I dunno, I can see maybe 3/4 of the band reforming post-Mendel, because I get the impression that Hoerner wouldn’t be incredibly interested.
Just a hunch though, don’t take my word on it.
At least we have a new Jeremy Enigk album to look forward to sometime in the next few months, and possibly another Fire Theft album sometime in the future.

I know, The Fire Theft is great, but it’s no SDRE.
But of course we’ve got 4 SDRE LPs to go by, and only 1 Fire Theft, so who knows how it’ll be.
